Ultimate Blog Party 2010 Prize Giveaway!

Whoops....I'm new to this and missed the deadline for the UBP10 Giveaway so we'll do our own Giveaway.

In honor of our brand new blog we are giving away a prize in the Ultimate Blog Party 2010.  The prize goes right along with our Project for Seniors.  This project is not only for Seniors but also for families or anyone interested in being God's hand extended to others.

The prize will consist of:

An Upside Down Tomato Gardening Kit

Plus Gardening Gloves and a few other great little gardening goodies.

This will get you set up for creating God's Little Garden.  There is only 1 winner and only in the lower 48 states please.

How to win?  Leave me a comment telling me what kind of project that you and your family have been involved with.  You also get an extra entry if you sign up to follow our Twiter! (Leave an extra comment telling me you did)

The winner will be Randomly chosen on April 16th - so leave me an email address so that I can contact you.

Thanks so much for reading through our new blog site - keep coming back as we post more ways of honoring God by Simply Serving others.

  1. Hi, I spotted your Tweet and came to visit. What a fun contest! My senior mom LOVES gardening and especially tomatoes so she'll be thrilled if I win this! :) I'll also pass the info on to my readers at SandwichINK. I'm not as big a gardener but do have a few pet plants - love roses, camellias, hydrangeas, and gardenias. And this year one of the activities for grandparents and grandchildren that I'm planning is to create a project called The Sunflower House! We're really looking forward to that! :) Thanks again

  3. We LOVE to garden here and my mom has always wanted one of those Tomato Bag thingies.

As for a project, I was unsure of what to do... until I saw your post on crocheting a mat from plastic bags!!! ( http://simplyserve3.blogspot.com/2010/04/plastic-mats-from-plastic-bags.html )

Brilliant! My mom has been teaching (trying to at least.. not all are interested) my kiddos knit but this is a project we could do with crocheting all together!!! YAY

  7. Although neither hubby and I are good gardners, we have several beds for veggies. We love the produce, but more importantly my 3 year old loves to help dig. We just planted broccoli, cauliflower and spring onions..cool weather crops.
PS Got here from your UBP10 tweet.

  8. Hi there,

Love the idea of your site. My kids are still fairly young, but the spirit of giving is something incredibly important to us! They are 4 and 2, and the most impactful thing we've done is the Salvation Army toy train, where we gave Santa toys to give to little boys and girls who needed it.

I also take them to clean up days at a local camp here for chronically ill kids. We definitely don't last long and aren't too much of a help, since they are so little, but we have cleaned up twigs from the playgrounds, which I guess needs to be done and is better than nothing! (I'm pretty sure it was a job made up for them since they were too little to do anything else). I figure that they are learning about giving, regardless of what they are asked to do!

Would love to win the tomatoes to teach them about sustainability and nutrition ; - )

  11. We have a program going in our small town called Weekend Warrior. The 8 local churches make weekend food bags for children at school to take home on the weekend. We make a total of 150 bags! That is 150 kids identified as NOT getting much food to eat on the weekends. Very sad. It is a great thing though for our church. We have all ages helping out! From buying the food to making the bags each week to taking the bags to the schools.

I'm following you on twitter too! Love the concept behind your blog! Stoppin' in from #UBP10 Toot toot!

  17. Hmmm... not sure I explained in my first comment the ways my family has served at the nursing home: my kids volunteer (ages 3 and 7),even as young as they are they can push wheelchairs, visit, and deliver treats.

  18. What a great idea for a blog! And I love your header - too cute. We were just talking about maybe planting a little garden this year to tend as a family - my son is almost 2 so I think he'd really get a kick out of it. Good luck with your blog!

  20. Thanks for visiting my little corner. I am delighted you're giving away this prize because I happened to see the TV commercial this Sunday, which I've seen before, and thought how neat it would be to have one.

My family and I have done many projects together, especially as a home schooling family. I have special memories of one we called Project SAP (Save A Penny), which my daughter set up for students to bring in loose change and we later sent to the survivors of hurricane Katrina.

Thanks for sharing this lovely prize. Looking forward to more visits.

  22. I came to your blog from the Twitter party tonight. I knew when I saw the title of your blog that it would be inspiring and one that I would enjoy!

My family is involved in all kinds of projects too. From buying "Hope2Others" bags (you can find them on FB) to hand to homeless people on the street (they provide water, some food, socks and some other nice little items), to the 30 Hour Famine supporting World Vision. Two of my children each sponsor a child (by themselves)thru World Vision. Our neighbor for many years was one whom we included in holiday's etc until she passed away this past year.

Thank you for sponsoring this giveaway!

  24. I am doing a wonderful project called Feed Five For Five and its a program that is aiming to punch out poverty and halt hunger one neighborhood at a time! I am so excited about it. You just take $5 out of your shopping budget and use it to help a family. It can be your family, the family down the street, or a family you don't even know!

  25. The tomatoes remind me of my beloved father. He always knew how to grow the best ones. It is time for me to start. I spend time with my family playing Apples to apples, bike riding, going swimming and just having fun. We also love to hit the garage sales as a family!

  29. I would love to win this! I started a garden this year on my desk (mobility issues so I can't have a traditional garden) using deck rail planters and strawberry pots I had from a few years ago.

So far I've planted grape tomatoes, lots of herbs, cukes, squash and peppers (banana and regular ones).

I also ordered a couple of potato sacks and I'm trying to grow some in reusable grocery bags (I have some that are almost favric-like so they should work well).

I'd love to have one of these, I hear people rave about them all the time.
